Son of Frances Eliot Dwigans Folsom and her first husband, James Finley Dwigans. He lived most of his adult life in Antelope Co., NE. His wife was Carrie Wakefield Dwigans, born Oct 27,1869, a daughter of Albert W. and Ellen Norgraves Wakefield. She died in Los Angeles on March 2, 1955.

Dwigans Rites Held Tuesday; Burial in Wiota, Iowa

Services were held here on Tuesday for Fred B. Dwigans, 87, who passed away at a Scottsbluff hospital on Saturday.

Rev. Wade Scott officiated at the service at the Jones Mortuary. The body was then shipped to Wiota, Iowa for burial in the family plot.

Born Dec. 19, 1874, in Poweshiek County, Iowa, at an early age he moved with his parents to Cass County, Iowa where he grew to manhood. He graduated from Atlantic Iowa high school and attended Northwestern University and the Ames Agricultural College. He was a farmer and livestock raiser until his retirement in 1948.

He was married to Carrie Wakefield Sept. 4, 1901 at Grove City, Iowa. In 1907 they moved to Orchard, Nebr. Where they resided until retirement when they moved to Altadena, Calif.

In March of 1955 he moved to Mitchell where he has since resided.

He is survived by three sons, Donald W. of Mitchell, Roger W. of Marion, Miss., and Paul Maurice of Madras, Ore.; one daughter, Bernice M. Lane of Berkeley, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

The tintype photo of him was found in an 1865 Bible that belonged to his mother; it was purchased in a thrift store in Richfield, MN earlier this year. Notice a hand steadying the rocker- likely his mother's.
