I do not find her in the 1940 census so she perhaps died before then, or remarried later in life.

In 1940 Francis is still in Long Beach, CA- Nora is not living with her; a boarder named Emma B. Putnam is.

I have speculated that perhaps she was buried in the Lincoln Center cemetery at Anita, Cass, Iowa where her mother, father and husband are buried, but a list of the burials does not include her. (http://iagenweb.org/cass/cemetery/lincolncntr/LincolnTwpCCGS.pdf)
