Reo Cleveland Knowles, 84, of Plano passed away suddenly Jan. 13, 2005, in Plano after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for noon Monday, Jan. 17, at Restland Memorial Chapel. Interment follows in Restland Memorial Park.

The family receives friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Restland Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Red River County to Joe and Frances Knowles. He was the oldest of six children. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Baltimore during World War II. He attended East Texas State University at Commerce and then obtained his law degree from SMU Law School. He was a claims attorney for USF&G Insurance Co. in Dallas until he retired. After retirement, he worked as a freelance arbitrator. He was a member of many organizations. He was a past master of the Roy Stanley Masonic Lodge No. 1367. He was a member of Scottish Rite and Hella Temple. He also belonged to the Royal Order of Jesters and the Elks. He had leadership role in all these organizations as well as others. He was a member of the Methodist church.

He had a great sense of humor. He loved to tell jokes and laugh. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Edleen, and friends. He never met a stranger and was loved by all.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlcia. He later married Edleen, who also preceded him in death.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Knowles; sisters, Dorothy Ingram and Juanita Westbook; and brother, Gordon Knowles.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Knowles; two sisters, Betty Ezell and Mary Jo Martin and husband, Floyd; sister-in-law, Marjorie Knowles; many nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends.
