Rena Frances Knowles of Clarksville, passed away, August 5, 2008 in Plano, at the age of 104. She was born February 1, 1904 in Lamar County to John and Frances Smith. She married Joe Bowers Knowles on November 7, 1920. She was a member of New Haven Baptist Church. She had a great sense of humor and loved having her family around. Her favorite pastime was working puzzles. She was very active in church and community activities until just a few years ago when she could no longer drive her car. She enjoyed fishing, working in her garden and traveling with the senior citizen tour groups. On her 100th birthday, she received recognition from the President of the United States and the Governor of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Knowles; two sons, Reo Knowles and Gordon Knowles; two daughters, Dorothy Ingram and Juanita Westbrook; grandson Ronnie Ingram and three sisters, Maude, Minnie and Bessie.

She is survived by two daughters; Betty Ezell of Ft. Worth and Mary Jo Martin and husband, Floyd of Plano; daughter-in-law Marjorie Knowles; grandchildren Jerry Westbrook, Janie Bohall, Stanley Knowles, Robin Danford, Roy Thomas, Dan Thomas, Terri Wodka, Sandra Cannaday, Susan Clark and Sherry Jones; twenty-three great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a very strong person that was full of life. Her family has been very blessed to have had her in their lives for so long, and she will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with the Rev. James Hinkle and Rev. Ronnie Kellam officiating. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday night from 6 to 8 at Clarksville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are; Roy Thomas, Dan Thomas, Stanley Knowles, Kendall Westbrook, Aaron Bohall, Raney Lovell, Keith Westbrook, and Brent Bohall. Honorary Pallbearer is Jerry Westbrook.
