Roy "Peto'' Strickland, 84, Abingdon, died at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born May 7, 1918, in Abingdon the son of Everett and Ida (Webber) Strickland. He married Betty G. "Sedalia" Curtis, March 1945, in Abingdon. Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Krans, Abingdon and Linda (Jim) Bent, Avon; three sisters, Lucille Singleton and Wanda Nicholas, both of Galesburg, and Pauline; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Billy Joe; and three brothers, Harold, Everett and William.
He had lived in Abingdon all of his life and worked at the former Abingdon Pottery. He also did lawn maintenance for several Abingdon families. Cremation was accorded.
Private committal services will be held at the Abingdon Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Abingdon, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
