Russell P. Mason, 81 of Murrayville died Sunday evening, March 11, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 20, 1902, in Morgan County, as son of Thomas and Louella Steele Mason. He first married Dorothy Haynes and she preceded him in death in 1936. He married Mildred L. Sellars on Aug. 17, 1938, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs Charles (Ella Deane) Thady, Murrayville, and Mrs. Ron (Edna Mae) Crawford, Chapin; two sons, Paul Thomas Mason, Murrayville, and Russell Deane Mason, Monmouth; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Mason, Jacksonville; and two sisters: Ida Vedder, Murrayville, and Edna Oddy, Rolling Meadows. He was preceded in death by a brother.
He was a retired farmer and member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Murrayville. Interment will be in the Murrayville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm Tureday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Visiting Nurses Association.
