Robert Wayne Annis Sr., 85, of Cambridge, formerly of Spring Lake Park passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.

He was born Dec. 7, 1923 in Litchfield, Minn. to Ross and Frances Annis. Annis grew up in Litchfield where he attended school and worked on the home farm until he enlisted in the military. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea. He was honorably discharged. After the military Annis drove truck for Turnquist Paper in North Minneapolis. He also owned and operated Bob's Janitorial, cleaning many different businesses in the Minneapolis area for several years. After he retired from trucking, Annis sold his cleaning business and moved to Lake Elsinore, Calif. He lived in California for 18 years before moving to the Grandview Christian Home to be near his son.

Annis was a member of several American Legion's and VFW's throughout the U.S. including several years at the Legion Post #230 in Columbia Heights. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitar, singing and dancing. Annis liked to visit with and meet new people and just having a good time. He enjoyed sports and spent many years coaching several sports in Spring Lake Park. He referred to himself as "number one Bob" and always called his daughter-in-law Kelly "Sweetheart".

Annis is survived by his son Robbie and wife Kelly Annis of North Branch; grandson Joshua and wife Suzi Annis of Fridley; brother Boyd and wife Elaine Annis of Maple Grove, as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son John earlier this year; five brothers, and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 10 at GracePointe Crossing Gable West with Reverend Norm Norland officiating. Special music will be provided by Nancy Peabody. A flag presentation will be provided by a member of the Cambridge American Legion Post #290. Online condolences at www.carlsonlillemoen.com.
