Shellabarger, of Letts, and Mrs. Sarah Hart and Mrs. Mary J. Baxter, of Muscatine. Three children died in infancy. Her husband died in Ohio in 1847, leaving her with a large family of small children. With the aid of him who never forsakes those who put her trust in him, she was enabled to rear her family. She moved to Muscatine County and lived on a farm until 1872, when she moved to Muscatine, where she had since resided. The disease that caused her death gave her intense pain for over six weeksbut she bore it with patience. just a few days before her death, while talking to one of her grandchildren, she became very happy and almost shouted for joy at the thought of what was in sore for her for all eternity. She was always self sacrificing, never thinking of what she might do for herself, but hoe she might help others. She died July 6, 1895. The funeral occurred Monday at the Brick church in Seventy-six township, Rev. Parvin, of Muscatine, officiating. She leaves three sons, four daughters, thirty-one grandchildren. She was lovingly cared for by her daughters through her long illness, and all was done to make her last days as comfortable as could be. So ends a life of eighty-seven years of usefulness.
