On Friday of lasrt week our fellow townsman, D.W. Paine witnessed the obsequies of his good mother, aat Danville, Iowa and on Monday of this week a double funeral occurred at the Brick church in 76 township, the caskets containing the remains of Jacob J. Snyder of 76 township, and of the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Brookheart. An appropriate sermon from Rev. J.S. Snoke was listened to by a large audience of the friends, relatives, and neighbors of the deceased.

It is pertinent here to sy that in the death of Jacob J. Snyder the entire community realize that a good and true man has passed from their midst. His dust was laid away a few paces east of the grave of his son- the late Captain A.N. Snyder.

The pall bears were: Jonathan Meeker, John Mctrew, John Fulmer, Albert Townsley, Levi Eichelberger and Father Altecruse.

The deceased was from Ohio, emigrating to this state in the spring of 1853; was born Oct. 27th, 180. he has been a faithful member of the U.B. church, a good neighbor, a kind fathere, a loving husband. His labors of love will long be cherrished in the memories of the good people of 76 and surrounnding township.
