His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, with Vicar Deanna Boynton officiating. Burial will follow at Scandinavian Cemetery, rural Bryant.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Osthus Funeral Home in Bryant is in charge of arrangements.
Eugene "Gene" Rasmussen was born Nov. 7, 1927, at Vienna, to Alvin and Clema (Kovar) Rasmussen. He grew up on farms near Vienna. He graduated from Vienna High School in 1945. He farmed until entering the military on Jan. 10, 1951. He was discharged on July 30, 1954, and returned to Bryant to farm.
On Aug. 24, 1952, he married Carol Swanson at Garfield Lutheran Church at rural Bryant. They farmed until retiring in 2010, when they moved to Bryant. He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Bryant; four daughters, Marialene (Lee) Lundie of Bruce, Julie (Dan) Cavanaugh of Rapid City, Marsha (Frank) Cutler of Platte, and Shelly (Mark) Noble of Lakeside, Calif.; one sister, Sharon (Bill) Herman of Watertown; and nine grandchildren.
He was proceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vernon and Dale; one infant son; and one infant daughter.
