David E Brown, 60, died suddenly at 6 pm Monday at his residence 325 North Kirk St, West Lafayette.
He was born Nov 16, 1903, at Shaner, PA a son of William and Ruth Smith Brown and came to West Lafayette in 1922.
He was married Aug 19, 1924 to Doris P Caton, who survives with four sons, Dr David E Brown Jr. of Kettering, William Thomas Brown of Columbus, Richard Hugh Brown of Hartsville and Harry Rett Brown of West Lafayette; one brother, Hugh C Brown of West Lafayette; a sister, Mrs Arthur Lacey of Newcomerstown and five grandchildren. One sister is deceased.
For the past seven years Mr Brown had been water commissioner of West Lafayette. Prior to that time he was supervisor in the steel room at the Moore Enameling and Manufacturing Co for 23 years.
He was a member of the West Lafayette Methodist church. West Lafayette Masonic lodge 602 F and A M, of which he was past master, a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, Coshocton Loyal Order of Moose, a charter member of the West Lafayette Fire department and the Coshocton county 32nd club. He was well known throughout the area for his participation in minstrel shows in former years
Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 pm at the West Lafayette Methodist church by Rev Paul Olinger. Burial will be in Fairfield cemetery.
Friends may call at the Bonnell-o'Neill funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and until noon Thursday.
West Lafayette F and AM lodge will conduct services Wednesday at 7 pm.
