Funeral services for Mr. Luther Washington Stamps, 63, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bobby Roberts officiating.

Mr. Stamps died Sunday, Nov. 24 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a masonry helper and of the Baptist faith. Born March 14, 1939, in Overton County, he was the son of the late James Wilker and Alpha (Brown) Stamps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Veachel Stamps; and a grandson, Jonathan Dixon.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Stamps of Livingston; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ricky and Jean Stamps and Randell Stamps, all of Livingston; five daughters, Betty Faye Massingille of Allons, and Kimmie Bilbrey, Tina Dixon, Rita Daniels, and Rachael Stamps, all of Livingston; a brother, James Stamps of Carthage; two sisters, Wanda Walker of Livingston and Louise Allen of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael Hammock, Jammy Carr, Wayne Peek, Tommy Daniels, Phillip Murphy, Bryan Murphy, and Troy Daniels. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Mark Walker, Jeff Walker, and Greg Walker.
