Jennie was only 21 when she had her first baby. Bertha is the only child of John Lawrence Gibbons and Jane (Jennie) Kerr Bailey Gibbons.

Both Jennie and her baby Bertha died when Jennie "went into convulsions and the doctor from Malad could not get to Arbon fast enough. The baby is buried in the same grave as her mother."
