Funeral services for Norman J. Cone, Jr. will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be Rev. Bill Ichter. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
N. J. was born October 3, 1929 in Bastrop and entered into rest June 20, 2011 in Bossier City. Norman served in the United States Navy. In his later years, he treasured and lived his life to it's fullest with his wife Erna, and daughter, Bridget. He loved his children: Terri, Sharon, Cynthia, and Norman from his first marriage and his grandchildren Jesse, Robert, Caroline, Patrick, Dylan, Sharon and Madeline. Golf, duck hunting, and time spent on his houseboat were his passions, and he loved working with the public at Cone's Farm and Garden Mart, a family-owned business since 1945.
His father Norman Cone, Sr., mother Alma Cone, and daughter Sharon (Cone) Fagan preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Erna Cone of Minden, son Norman Cone III of Minden, daughters Bridget Cone of Minden, Terri Cone of Ridgefield, CT, Cynthia Webb of Mandeville, and seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please give a donation in memory of N. J. Cone, Jr. to St. Jude's Children Hospital Cancer Center.
