Clifford C. Graba, age 84, a well known resident of Orton Township, passed away suddenly Monday, May 7, 1979 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lou Dorenbush.
He was a son of Jake and Nettie Graba, born February 3, 1895 in Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in Orton Township.
On November 5, 1920, he was married to the former Cora B. Platten at St. Paul, Minnesota. Since their marriage they have lived on a farm in Orton township.
Mr. Graba was well known throughout political circles as he served two terms (4 years) as a State Representative. He also served on the Central Co-op board for 18 years and the Mutual Service Board for 19 years.
Mr. Graba was a member of the United Metodist Church. He was an avid supporter of Community Affairs, in addition to being an all-around booster for the area. Essentially, he was not only a respected businessman, but a warm-hearted, sympathetic human being characterized best by the memory of his extended hand and welcoming smile. His loss will be deeply felt by many for a long time indeed.
One son, Jim, preceded him in death during World War II.
Besides his wife, Cora, whom he was married to for 58 1/2 years, he leaves four sons, namely, Jack and Jerry of rural Sebeka, Jason of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Joe Graba of Forest Lake, Minnesota; two daughters, Mrs. Lou (Joyce) Dorenbush of Sebeka, and Mrs. Ray (Janice) Buckingham of Bloomington, Minnesota; 23 grandchildren: 12 great grandchildren; one brother, George H. Graba of Kansas City, Missouri.
Funeral services for Mr. Graba were held Thursday, May 10, 1979 at 1:30 P.M. at the Sebeka Public School multi-purpose room with Rev. Elmer Huchel officiating. The hymns, "Beyond the Sunset," and "How Great Thou Art," were sung by Mrs. Betty Hinders and the congregation sang, "Rock of Ages," accompanied by Mrs. Nancy Huhtala on the organ.
The honorary pallbearers were: Herb Zeller, Ernest Lehner, Roger Tellock, Erwin Dexter, Marvin Dobson, Lester Perkins, Pat Tullis and Robert Estabrooks. The active pallbearers were sons and sons-in-law; Jack, Jerry, Jayson and Joe Graba, Lou Dorenbush and Ray Buckingham. Interment was at the City of Sebeka Cemetery.
