Oscar Noe Dies This Afternoon
Well-Known Citizen Dies At Home Of Sister In Chester Township
Oscar Noe, 73, died at 1:30 this afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. William Carnes, one-half mile south of Chester Center, after an illness of several years form diabetes and paralysis. He formerly lived in Bluffton and was one of the county's well-known citizens. He frequently took part in old fiddlers' events.
Mr. Noe was born in Chester township, Wells county, on Dec. 19, 1857, a son of David and Harriett Goodlow Noe. His marriage to Miss Tunie Foster took place in Benton county. Mrs. Noe preceded him in death in 1914.
Surviving are four sons, Carlton Noe, south of Liberty Center; Whitcomb Noe, Kokomo; Lowell Noe, who has been helping care for his father; and Woodrow Noe, Gallup, New Mexico. There is one sister, Mrs. William Carnes, south of Chester Center.
Funeral plans had not been made late today, pending the arrival of the son from New Mexico
Dave's note: Oscar Noe (1857-1931) is the s/o David Noe (1819-1899) and Harriett Goodnow (1825-1905). Oscar married Tunie M. Foster (1871-1914). Oscar and Tunie are buried in Fairview Cemetery at Bluffton, Wells County, Indiana.
