MRS. ETTIE CARNES DIES FRIDAY NIGHT

Mrs. Ettie Carnes, 84, a native of Wells County, died at 11 p.m. Friday at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Noe, at Barbee Lake, Leesburg rural route. She had been in failing health and the last three years had been bedfast 18 months.

The decedent was born in Chester Township July 20, 1869, a daughter of David and Harriett Goodnow Noe. Her marriage in 1887 was to Rev. William H. Carnes, whose death occurred Dec. 19, 1928.

She was a member of the Blanche Chapel Church in Wells County. Mrs. Carnes had resided in the county all her life with the exception of the past 17 years. She had made her home with the daughter at Barbee Lake the last 10 years.

Surviving in addition to the daughter are three sons, Everett W., Eldon and Clyde C. Carnes, all of Poneto Route 1; 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. A son, Ralph; two daughters, Mrs. Alma Creek and Harriett Carnes; two brothers, Oliver and Oscar Noe, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Baker, Mrs. Ida Popejoy, Mrs. Hattie Garrett and Louise Noe are deceased.

The body was returned here to the Thoma Funeral Home and will be taken to the home of the son, Eldon Carnes, on and one-half miles west of Poneto, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Blanche Chapel Church with Rev. W. H. Kirkpatrick of Decatur and Rev. Dwight Conrad officiating. Burial will be in the Snow Cemetery.
