Two months of serious illness subsequent to a stroke of paralysis resulted in death at three o'clock this morning for Franklin P. McKay, seventy years old, at his home in Waldron.
Mr. McKay served as trustee of Liberty township from 1907 until 1913. He was a school teacher for nineteen years, after which he became a successful farmer. Fifteen years ago he retired from farming and made his home in Waldron.
He was born in Union township, this county, Sept. 10, 1860. All his life had been spent in Shelby county. His marriage to Miss Annabelle Heck took place in 1890. Four children, three surviving, were born to them. They are: Mrs. Mable Thornburg and Mrs. Fred Keeling, of near Waldron, and Miss Unice McKay, who is teaching in Cincinnati, O. Mr. McKay also leaves the widow, a brother Theodore McKay, of Geneva, and four grandchildren. Another brother Jasper McKay, was trustee of Addison township at the time of his recent death.
Mr. McKay was a member of the Waldron M. E. church. The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Vienna church, south of Blue Ridge, with Rev. C. B. Atkinson and Rev. Ralph Minton, both of Waldron, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in charge of Carmony brothers.
