Funeral services for Mr. Claude C. Carr, 85, of Jacksonville, FL, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2000, at Wesconnett Church of Christ in Jacksonville, FL, with Wallace Maxwell and Mark Mosher officiating. Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Florida was in charge of the arrangements. Local funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2000, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville. Burial was in Eckels Cemetery in Overton County with Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Carr, a retired teacher, died Friday, December 31, 1999, at St. Vincent�s Medical Center.

Born in Tennessee, he moved to Crescent City, Florida, later to Palatka, and in 1968, moved to Jacksonville where he lived until his death. He taught in the public school system in Tennessee for several years before retiring as a teacher in Jacksonville around 1973. He was also a high school basketball coach while teaching in Tennessee.

He was a member of Wesconnett Church of Christ and served as one of its elders before resigning around 1983.

Survivors include two children, Jim Carr and Ramona Smitherman; four grandchildren, John Smitherman, Scott Smitherman, Cynthia Lucas, and Michelle Ginder; and a great granddaughter, Brooke Lucas.
