2005 Obituary: Austin, Texas
Patricia (Pat) Jean Brunson Hepworth, formerly of Salt Lake City and Phoenix died August 1, 2010.

She is survived by her husband, Dean, and her son, Roger, and Roger's wife, Peggy, who were at her side when she died of pneumonia after a valiant struggle with quadriplegia for 6 years.

She is also survived by a sister, Allison, five grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce, and two sisters, Fay and June. Pat was born September 10, 1931 in Rockford, Illinois, the youngest of four daughters, to Elmer Howard Brunson and Ethel Pederson Brunson.

She grew up in Salt Lake City and moved, while in high school, to North Salt Lake where she met Dean Hepworth and they quickly fell in love and were married. Their loving relationship continued during the 62 years of their marriage. They resided most of their married lives in Salt Lake City, but also resided in Phoenix (Ahwatukee) for 16 years and in Austin the past 5 and 1/2 years, where they moved to live by their son Roger, after a spinal cord injury that resulted in her quadriplegia. Her husband, with assistance from Carol Bennett, was her caregiver for those 6 years.

Pat was a gifted artist and many of her oil paintings grace the walls of friends, relatives, and some public offices. She also derived great joy from teaching oil painting to groups of older women whom she affectionately referred to as her "little old ladies" and to whom she endeared herself.

Pat had many friends who knew her to be a loving, generous, loyal person who freely and joyfully served others. She took great delight in her sons' accomplishments and in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the LDS Cedar Park Chapel at 1004 W. Park Street. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
