Joe E. Bushong, 82, of Lafayette, died at 9:30 AM Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at St. Anthony Health Care, where he had been a resident since November 2006.
Born March 1, 1925, in Tompkinsville, KY, he was the son of the late Frank and Lottie Brady Bushong. He had lived in Lafayette since 1965. He was a veteran of the Army, serving from 1943 to 1946 in the European theater. In 1965, he married Betty Krug Funk in Lafayette, and she survives. Mr. Bushong worked at Consolidated Industries for 35 years and retired in 1988. He enjoyed gardening and walking his dog.
Surviving with his wife are one son, Larry Bushong (wife: Mary Ann) of Lafayette; three stepdaughters, Mary Fox, Linda Bray and Sondra Griswold (husband: Dallas), all of Lafayette; and two stepsons, Sony Funk (wife: Wilma) of Lafayette and Alva Funk of Michigan City.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 1:30 PM service on Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Interment Spring Vale Cemetery. Also surviving are 20 stepgrandchildren, 37 stepgreat-grandchildren and 14 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
