BUXTON, NC - M.F. "Tex" Ballance, Jr., 67, of Buxton, NC died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at his residence.

Mr. Balance was born in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of the late Millard Fillmore Ballance, Sr. and the late Nita Baum Ballance.

He was a retired Building Contractor, owner and operator of Ballance Construction Company and was also a retired Charter Boat Captain. He attended Lighthouse Assembly of God. Tex was a pioneer of charter fishing off Hatteras and his love of fishing continued throughout his life.

Mr. Ballance is survived by his wife, Rose Waterfield Ballance of the residence; two daughters, Holly Doone of New Jersey and Angela Ballance Daniels of Hatteras, NC; one son, Bruce Ballance of Hatteras, NC; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; an aunt, Irene Midgett of Kitty Hawk, NC.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Ballance Bass and a brother, Bruce Michael Ballance.

Funeral services will be held at Lighthouse Assembly of God on Friday, April 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Waterfield and Rev. Johnny Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Ballance Family Cemetery. There will be a gathering of friends and family at the church on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence. Twiford's Island Chapel, Hatteras is assisting the family with arrangements.
