She was predeceased by a brother, Bruce Michael Ballance.
She had lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast 36 years. She was a legal secretary for Meadows Tiley Law firm and was a member of Order of Eastern Star #306. She graduated from Cape Hatteras High School in 1960.
Survivors include two sons: John L. Byrd and George M. Byrd, both of Long Beach; a brother, Tex Ballance of Hatteras; and 3 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. Burial will be in Long Beach City Cemetery directed by Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport.
