Doris Gail Carter Hollar, 72, of Granite Falls, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was born July 17, 1938, in Iredell County, North Carolina to the late Charles Dewitt Carter and Annie Morrow Carter. She was a member of Philadelphia Lutheran Church, Granite Falls. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Brady Dean Hollar; and her first husband, Terry Lewis Baumgarner; six sisters; and one brother. She is survived by her three daughters, Kim Baumgarner Head and husband Benny of Hiddenite; Dawn Baumgarner Hollar of Lenoir; Deana L. Flores and husband Dagoberto of Lawndale; her four sons, David A. Hollar and wife Jodeana of Stanley; Timothy Scott Hollar and wife Candi of Statesville; Rickland Dean Hollar and wife Kay of McLean, Va.; and Gregory Thomas Hollar of Lenoir; her brother, Herbert Carter of Statesville; and her sister, Ruth Miller of Pt. Pleasant, N.J.; eighteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. Dec. 7, 2010 at Mackie-High Chapel, Granite Falls, with the Rev. Richard Schwandt. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Mackie-High Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Granite Falls.
