Charles L. Whitman
Charles L. Whitman, 89, of Midland, died Saturday,afternoon, Aug. 21,2004, at the Kindy Adult Foster Care home in Midland.
He was born on May 1,1915, the son of the late Daniel and Mary (Beaubien) Whitman in Gladwin, where he was raised and educated. On Feb. 10,1937 he married Mary Himebaugh in Gladwin and lived in the Midland area since 1942. Mr. Whitman retired from the Dow Chemical Co. as an operator in 1969.
He is survived by his son, Ralph (Norma) Whitman of Coleman, daughter-in-law Diane (Shorty) Whitman-Cornia of Sanford;son-in-law David Collins of Union City;brother Forrest Whitman Sr. of Freeland; sister-in-law Alfreda Dibble of Ravenna; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Mary; second wife Ethelind; son Lyle Whitman; and his daughter Ann Collins.
Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24,2004, at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler St. The Rev. Wayne Shidler will officiate, with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Whitman's family will recieve friends at the funeral home today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
