Dorothy was born June 20, 1922 in Beaverton, to Daniel and Mary Whitman. She was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. People will remember her for the housekeeping she did throughout the county. She enjoyed puzzle books, gardening, fishing, and her love of flowers, but most of all, her children.
Dorothy married Vern L. Hale, Aug. 28, 1938 in Beaverton and from this marriage they had eight adoring children: four daughters, Barb and Don Hagenbaugh and Bea and R.C. Brubaker of Beaverton, Helen and Jesse Dale of Burton, and Judy and John Slaughter of Argentine; three sons, Bill and Judy Hale of Gladwin, Leo and Flo Hale of Beaverton, and Rick and Lori Hale of Harrison. She is also survived by one sister, Mable and Dan Bruner of Gladwin; two brothers, Charles Whitman of Sanford and Forrest and Ermily Whitman of Freeland; 26 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, James. Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin with Elder Esther Rodabaugh officiating, and ministry through songs by grandson, Christopher Hale. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Gladwin.
