It is with great sadness that the family of Raymond Louis Clements announces his death on June 3, 2011 at Oklahoma City, OK. Louis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Louis learned the oil and gas drilling business from his father at a very early age, which allowed Louis to become a "Driller of the World," having drilled the first oil and gas well in New Guinea, along with tours in Venezuela, Columbia, Barbados and Israel. After having successfully developed one of the large gas fields in South TX, Louis retired at age 80. Louis attended Blackwell High School where he met and in 1945 at Guthrie, OK, married Lois Genevere Beavers. Throughout his life Louis enjoyed hunting and fishing and the American Western way of life, but his true love was his family and the oil and gas business. Louis served his country as a member of the US Army. Louis was born on September 18, 1927 in Smackover, Arkansas, to parents, Roy Raymond and Jewel Elizabeth Walker Clements. Louis was predeceased by his parents; brother, Loyd Clements; and nephew, Donnie Holmes. Louis is survived by his wife of 66 years; daughters: Vickie Evans and husband Larry of Oklahoma City; Karen Howard White and husband David of Lorton, VA; and Teresa Clements of Lorton, VA; grandchildren: Alishia Mayfield and husband David of Oklahoma City; Ashley Odom and husband Jonathan of Ashburn, VA; Quentin Howard and wife Jeannie of Stephenville, TX; Nikki Howard Dean of Abilene, TX; and Georgiana Stephens of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Madelyn Mayfield, Triston and Jocelyn Dean, Megan Landry and Brennan Stephens; sisters: Helen Holmes of Dundee, TX; Billie Wallace of Oklahoma City; Delma Alexander of San Angelo, TX; Annette Castor and husband Dale of Mustang; and Jeanette Miller and husband Carl of Okmulgee; a host of nieces and nephews and his many friends. Louis leaves a legacy to all that were fortunate enough to have known him to do things right with honest intent, for as according to Proverbs 20 v. 7, It is a wonderful heritage to have an honest father. Often said, but in his case known to be true, Louis will be continually missed by family and friends. The family is extremely appreciative of the kindness and genuine caring provided to Louis by the doctors and nurses at Oklahoma Heart Hospital and Hospice of Oklahoma County and would suggest that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Louis' memory to Hospice of Oklahoma County or Chisholm Creek Baptist Church, so that they can continue to assist other families through difficult times. A graveside service will be 10:30am, Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with a reception to follow there in the Historic Chapel.
