Helen Louise “Mema” Holmes, 86, of Wichita Falls, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015.
Helen was born on January 19, 1929 in Smackover, Arkansas to the late Roy Raymond and Elizabeth Jewel (Walker) Clements. On March 20, 1949, she married Cecil Holmes. She was a longtime member of Dundee Baptist Church, and served on the board of the Dundee Cemetery Association for over 50 years. She loved gardening and quilting, and was known as “Mema” to all. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Cecil Holmes; a son, Donald Eugene Holmes; and two brothers, Louis Clements, and Lloyd Clements.
She is survived by her son, Jim Holmes and wife Nelda of Dundee; four sisters, Billie Wallace of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Delma Alexander of Plainview, Annette Castor and husband Dale of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Jeanette Miller and husband Carl of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Bradley Holmes and wife Joyce, and Holly Sheriff and husband Danny all of Keller; four great-grandchildren, Cole Sheriff, Bria Holmes, Cameron Sheriff, and Jayna Brooke Holmes; sister-in-law, Genevere Clements and Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Cheri Holmes-Henry and husband Gary of Coppell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a community of friends.
