Sidney Jane King daughter of David Armstrong and Mary Gragg (Henkle) King was born 09 September 1851 in Appanoose Co., IA and died 13 March 1936 at Colfax, Whitman Co., WA. She married William Wood 01 January 1867 at Philomath, Benton Co., OR.

The following is from an unknown source, after March 14, 1936:
"Mrs. Wood Came West by Wagon.
Colfax, Wash., March 14. -- (UP) Funeral services were to be held here Sunday for Mrs. Sydney Jane Wood, 87-year-old pioneer who died Friday.
Mrs. Wood came by covered wagon from Iowa when a girl and her father, David King, settled near Corvallis, Or. She married William Wood in Corvallis (sic) on January 1, 1867. Three sons, three (sic) daughters, 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. E.J. (Emery) Wells, Corvallis, survive."

"MRS. SIDNEY J. WOOD.
COLFAX, Wash., March 14 (Special) -- Mrs. Sidney Jane Wood, who spent six months of her early life with an emigrant train which brought her family to Corvallis, in the early '50s, died yesterday at the home of her daughter in this city. She was born in Iowa, September 9, 1851. At the age of 2 years she accompanied her parents, two brothers and a sister to Oregon and her father, David King, took a homestead near Corvallis. Her grandfather, Captain Henkle, was in command of the emigrant train. She married William Wood at Corvallis (sic) January 1, 1867, and in 1875 she and her husband and other children came by team and covered wagon to Colfax.
Surviving are six (sic) children, Mrs. Mary Kroetvh (sic), Portland; David and Jess Wood and Mrs. Elizabeth Modie, Colfax; Clyde Wood, Troy, Idaho, and Mrs. Maude Torrence, Spokane. Two sisters are Mrs. E.J. (Emery) Wells, Corvallis, Or., and Mrs. C.C. (Charles Barton) Crosno, Toledo, Or.
Mrs. Wood was a charter member of the Colfax Baptist church and her funeral will be held there Sunday at 2 P.M., the Rev. C.M. Hereford, of Steptoe officiating."

"Member of Pioneer Family -- Mrs. Sydney Jane Wood, 87-year-old pioneer, died Friday at Colfax, Washington, and the funeral service is to be held there Sunday with interment in that vicinity. Mrs. Wood came by covered wagon from Iowa when a small girl and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David King, settled with their family in Benton county near Corvallis. She married William Wood in Corvallis (sic) January 1, 1867, and the couple continued to make their home here for several years before going to Washington where Mrs. Wood had since resided. She fell several years ago and broke her leg and had since been an invalid. Three sons, three (sic) daughters, 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, the majority of them residents of Washington, survive. Mrs. Wood was a sister of Mrs. E.J. (Emery) Wells of Corvallis and Mrs. C.E. (Charles Barton) Crosno of Toledo, the last surviving (sic) members of the family. She was an aunt of J.D. Wells and there are numerous other relatives in this city and vicinity."
