Grace Maurine Vance Poll, age 95, died of natural causes Thursday, June 2, 2011. Maurine was born to Rose H. Cook and George W. Vance in Salt Lake City, where she lived her entire life.

Maurine married the love of her life, Harry Nicholson Poll, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1934. He preceded her in death 22 years ago.

Harry and Maurine had 10 children, David V. Poll, H. Ronald (Mary) Poll, Judith M (Kent) Hutchings, Richard Poll, Stephen V. (Judi) Poll, Nancy E. (Val) Swenson, Rosemary (Steve) Hawkes, Carole Ann Hoyt, Margie G. (Mel) Hawkes, and Robert V. (Christiane) Poll.

Two of those sons, Ronald and Richard, preceded her in death as well as two grandchildren, D. Jonathan Poll and Forest Meadow Greenly Moyer, and one grandson-in-law, Robert Clemons.

Currently her posterity numbers 235, each of whom she knew and valued as a priceless individual. A devoted mother and grandmother, Maurine wore out her knees in prayer in behalf of her beloved family.

Maurine was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with an unfailing testimony. She served in many callings at both stake and ward levels, often as ward organist.

She loved organs and was a member of the American Guild of Organists. She instilled a love of music in her descendents, who carry on her legacy of musical excellence.

Maurine carried a feeling of deep connection to her ancestors and devoted herself to genealogy and family history research. An avid gardener and life-long learner, she was also a woman of service, always aware of others needs and continually phoning friends and family expressing love and encouraging faith.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, at 1:00 p.m. at the Country Crossing 10th Ward building, 2812 W. 11800 S., So. Jordan. Viewings will be held Thursday, June 9, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 1007 W. 10600 South, So. Jordan, as well as 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, at the church prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the LDS Church Missionary Fund or to a favorite charity.
