Cyrus Grover Brandenburg, 80, of 226 Jefferson St., died at Washington County Hospital Thursday.

Born and reared in Wolfsville, Md., he was the son of late Henry Levi and Louisa C. Grossnickle Brandenburg. He had lived in Hagerstown 52 years.

He was employed at the Western Maryland Railway and later owned and operated the Hagerstown Motor Express, retiring in 1956. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren and the Men's Bible Class and a life long member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engine Men.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie B. Eckstien Brandenburg; daughter, Mrs. Freda M. Johns, of near Leitersburg; Mrs. Gladys B. Longanecker, Colorado Springs, Col.; Mrs. Catherine M. Swope, Keedysville; sons, Kenneth L. Brandenburg, Keedysville; Cyrus R. Brandenburg and Max A. Brandenburg, Hagerstown; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Calmeda Grossnickle, Walkersville; Mrs. Stella Bittle, Myersville; brothers, Keefer Brandenburg, Fahrney - Keedy Memorial Home; Lloyd Brandenburg, Myersville; Henry E. Brandenburg, Hagerstown; and number of nieces and nephews.

The body was removed to the A. K. Coffman Funeral Home where services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Basil Grossnickle, Myersville, and Dr. Dewitt Miller, officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
