KOUTS, Feb. 9. -- Gustav J. Wandrey, 86, Kouts resident for 82 years, died at 1:30 a.m. today in Porter Memorial hospital, Valparaiso, after a three-day illness.
Born May 31, 1868, in Germany, he came to Kouts from Germany at the age of four and lived here since then. He married Caroline Chael March 27, 1895, in St. Paul's Lutheran church, where he was a member.
A retired railroad signal maintainer, he worked for the Pennsylvania railroad in Kouts for 42 years.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Wandrey of Kouts; two sons, Edward of Niles, Mich., and Roy of Kouts; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Young of Lansing, Ill., Mrs. Anna Wolbrandt of Streator, Ill., and Mrs. Lena Wiesjahn and Mrs. Amelia Kneifel of Kouts; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son and two brothers preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday in St. Paul's Lutheran church. The Rev. L. G. Koepke will officiate, and burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery.
Friends may call at Kosanke Brothers Funeral home from 7 p.m. Thursday until services.
