JOHN WANDREY OF KOUTS DIES
South County Man Succumbs After Illness of Over 2 Years Duration.

Death claimed John Gottlieb Wandrey, 66, of Kouts, Wednesday evening at 9 o'clock in Holy Family hospital, LaPorte, Ind. He had been ill with complications for the past 28 months and confined to the hospital for seven weeks.
He was born Feb. 13, 1872 in Gransdorf, Germany. His parents, Gottlieb and Minnie Wandrey brought him to America at the age of one year. They settled in the vicinity of Kouts where he spent his entire life. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company, serving as maintainer on the Panhandle branch through Kouts. The past two years he has been retired from duty. His first wife, Etta Stanley, preceded him in death. They had three daughters.
On Dec. 10, 1930 he was married Clara Gast in Kankakee, Ill. The widow survives, also the daughters, Mrs. William Baske, Mrs. Raymond Griffin and Mrs. Louis Thomas, all of Gary, Ind.; four grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Amelia Kniefel and Mrs. Adaline Wiesjahn of Kouts, Mrs. Anna Wohlbrandt, of Streeter, Ill., and Mrs. Emma Young of Lansing, Ill; two brothers, William and Gustav of Kouts.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 o'clock in the Kouts Christian church, Rev. Aaron Egli officiating. Burial will be made in the Lutheran cemetery west of Kouts. Kosanke Brothers are in charge of arrangements.
