He was the son of Elias and Edith Coleman Oldham. His parents are buried in Holly Springs Cemetery. He was a Mason and a member of the Montalba Christian Church. He shares a stone with his wife, Amanda Elender Riggs Oldham, who he married 27 December 1903 in Anderson Co, TX. He passed away at his home near Montalba following a lingering illness. He was survived by his wife; five sons. Mortimer Elmore Oldham of Pittsburg, TX, Ausborn Elias Oldham of the Navy, Homer Ashley Oldham and Cyrus Hiram Oldham, both of Houston, Aaron D. Oldham of the Army Air Force; and three daughters, Myra Mae Oldham Blount of Tyler, Edith Elender Oldham Galloway of Montalba, and Coreen Louise Oldham Christopher of Palestine. His obituary was published in the Palestine Daily Herald, Wednesday, 5 January 1944.
