Stanley Eugene Anderson, age 88, of Springfield, MO, passed away at 12:50 pm at St. Sunday, May 29, 2011 in St. John's Hospital.

He was born on July 8, 1922, in Villisca, Iowa, the son of James and Gladys Forsythe Anderson.

He married Elizabeth "Betty" Daley Anderson on June 24, 1944. He attended Villisca High School in Villisca, IA. World War II interrupted his education at Iowa State University. He was a graduate of the US Army Medical Administration corps Officer Candidate Scholl Class 26, was a member of the 3rd Army 90th Division, 357th Regiment, 1943-1946.

He returned to Iowa State University to complete his Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry and became a professor of the same at Texas Technological University. Stanley received a Master's Degree in Animal Husbandry from Texas Tech, where he also coached the senior livestock judging team from 1948 to 1961.

In 1962, Stanley became the Director of Breed Improvement for the American Angus Association in St. Joseph, MO and developed their Sire Evaluation program.

With Premier Beef Incorporated in Racine WI, Stanley created and coordinated the implementation of an Angus cow/calf breeding program and feedlot construction and implementation in Iwate Prefecture, Morioka, Japan.

Stanley moved to Springfield to join Midwest Breeders in 1974.

In his own company, Anderson Land & Livestock, he exported various breeds of livestock to South America, Japan and Korea. An avid Cattleman, Stanly had a Registered Angus Cow Calf operation.

He was a member of Texas Technological University Alumni Association, Stanley E Anderson Texas Tech Scholarship, American Angus Association, Missouri Angus Association, National Cattleman's Association, Missouri Cattleman's Association, Democratic CCC, Military Officers AA (MOAA), Veterans of Foreign Wars, US Army 90th Division "Tough Ombres", Holy Trinity Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Holy Trinity Men's Club, Holy Trinity Eucharist Minister, Greeter and Usher.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty " Daley Anderson, Springfield, MO

He is survived by son, James & wife Diane Anderson Tampa. FL; daughter, Joyce Anderson, White Post. VA; son, Jerry Anderson, San Francisco, CA; daughter, Julie Stack, Austin, TX; grandson, Gavin Anderson, Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Megan & husband Daniel Miller, Columbus, OH; grandson, Skylar Anderson, Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Allison Anderson, Dallas, TX; granddaughter, SrA Hillary Stack, on Active Duty in the US Air Force In Iraq and husband Noah Utne, Augusta, GA; grandson, SSG Eric, on Active Duty in US Army In Iraq and wife Kimberly Stack , Springfield, MO; great- grandson, Jasper Gene Miller, Columbus, OH; great-grandson, Jaden Stack, Springfield, MO; brother, Calvin Anderson, Des Moines, IA; cousin, Paul Forsythe, Tucson, AZ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Fergus Monaghan and Msgr. Thomas Reidy, con-celebrants. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
