Funeral services for James D. Anderson, 88, Villisca, a retired farmer were held Monday at United Presbyterian Church, Villisca, with Dr. Chris Herring officiating.
Burial was in Arlington Cemetery, Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa, with arrangements by Sutphen Funeral Home, Villisca, Iowa.
He died last Friday at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Anderson, he was born May 19, 1892, near Oxford, Nebraska. He was a graduate of Villisca High School and attended Grinnel College.
Anderson was a member of Villisca United Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge, and Order of Eastern Star. He was a pioneer in soil conservation practices and for a number of years served as one of the commissioners of Montgomery Soil Conservation District.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Hubert in Mississippi, Stanley in Missouri, and Calvin in Atlantic, Iowa. 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
