Cora E. Hutto, age 90, passed into the arms of her heavenly father on Tuesday, July 21, 2009. She was a native of Santa Rosa County born July 11, 1919 to the late Joseph A. and Nancy Barnes Rogers, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Hutto and , three brothers, Scarrett S., Wyman M. and Willie M. Rogers, one sister Jessie T. Thompson. She is survived by two sisters, Melba I. Ates and Bernice M. Ates; two brothers, Claude M. Rogers and Phillip L. Rogers along with many nieces and nephews. Cora felt the call to serve her country during WWII and went to work at Eglin AFB just like "Rosie the Riveter". She met Jim while he was stationed there and they married in 1948. That was the beginning of a lifetime and a love of traveling. She could talk for hours about their travels to many countries. They continued to travel after retirement and after returning to Santa Rosa County. She was a member of OES Community Court #56.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. and services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 2001 N. Palafox Street, Pensacola, Florida 32501.
