Mel "Toe" Copeland, 89, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013, in Fort Worth. Service: 10 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial: Granbury Cemetery. Visitation: 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at the funeral home.
Mel was born September 27, 1924, in Tolar to John and Mary Cooper Copeland. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a service writer for Charlie Hillard Ford.
Survivors: Son, Danny and wife, Katherine Copeland of San Antonio; daughter, Gloria and husband, Bob Holland of Burleson; grandchildren, Cheryll and Mark Wilks, Carrie and Chris Buley, Lisa Bass, Leslie and Brandon McCallum, Lynette and Tim Hoerig, Andrea Short and William Short; great-grandchildren, Delaine and Michael Atkinson, Jake Hoerig, Chelsie Bleeker, Treaver Hoerig, Kearsten Hoerig, Kage Wilks, Austin Buley, Spencer Buley, Leah McCallum, Lindsey McCallum; sisters-in-law, Shirley and husband, Gene Hughes of Weatherford and Nelda Holloway of Burleson; and many nieces and nephews.
