Lula Mae Blair, age 74, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (May 24, 2011) at Norton's Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born on October 12, 1936, in Millwood, KY, the daughter of the late Shelby Thomas and Elsie (Reynolds) Basham, Sr.. She was a member of the American Legion Post 81. She is survived by three sons, Julius Bird of Leitchfield, Paul Bird of Shively, and Darryl Bird of New Albany, IN; one daughter, Cynthia Elmore of Leitchfield; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Anne Bird, one son, Leonard Edward Bird, one grandchild Krystal Kay VanMeter, one sister, Mary Nell Wright, three brothers, John Lewis, Sherman Edward, and Claude Winston Basham. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday (May 27, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Ernie Vincent will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 11:00 a.m. on Friday until time of services.
