Martha Alda Adams, 81, of Stanley, died on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at MontVue Nursing Home.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1929, in Stanley and was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Pearl Susan Nauman.

Mrs. Adams had worked in the laundry department at Massanutten Ski Resort and was a member of Hilliards Chapel Assembly of God.

On Oct. 14, 1962, she married Gene Ora Adams, who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sisters, Charlotte Comer of Shenandoah, and Lena Cubbage of Stanley. She was preceded in death by six sisters, Audrey Helen Burner, Mary Burner, Ethel Cubbage, Margaret Lansberry, Pauline Montgomery and Zethel Oneida McCoy; and two brothers, Pete and Thomas Nauman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, at the Hilliards Chapel Assembly of God by the Rev. James A. Henry, Evangelist Earl E. Painter and the Rev. Paul H. Walters. Burial will be in the Hilliards Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
