OBIT - "Suggested edit: Yell County's Oldest Doctor Dies at 86 - Dr. Lee Montgomery, age 86, died at his home at Gravelly Saturday morning. He was the oldest physician in Yell County. Dr. Montgomery began his practice in 1833 at Shark, in Yell County and was active until a year ago. He received a 50 year gold button from the Arkansas Medical Association in 1949 with the observation that they waited 10 years too late. He had practiced at Gravelly since 1900. Dr. Montgomery was born in Mississippi and came to Arkansas at the age of 17. He attended the University of Arkansas Medical School and Rush Medical College at Chicago. He was a past president of the Yell and Pope Counties Medical Society. He was a member of the Yell County Board of Examiners several years and also was a Methodist and a Scottish Rite Mason.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Otho Garner and Mrs. Tom Parks of Plainview; a brother, Dr. Tom Montgomery of Salter, Ore. and a sister Mrs. John Caviness, of Danville.
