Mumford was one of the founding members of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Benton, Franklin County, Illinois. His name is carved on the original organization stone in front of the church. A photo of this stone is on the main cemetery page here on Find A Grave. I have searched this cemetery for his headstone but have been unable to find it.
He received a Military Bounty Land Warrant on August 6, 1852, for 80 acres in the Territory of Kaskaskia, Illinois part of which was located in what is now known as Jackson County, Illinois for his military service. Land Warrant #17.561

According to records, Joseph Terry Williams made a land purchase in Jackson County, Illinois, October 24, 1817.
Mumford was recorded living in Franklin County, Illinois on the 1830 Illinois State census. This is probably where he met and married Mary Ann Rea. She and the Rea family lived in Franklin County, Illinois.
In 1840, Mumford was living in Jackson County, Illinois according to the Illinois State census. At this time there were 10 people living in his household. Other Williamses listed as a head of household in Jackson County at this time were, Joseph T., Joseph, Terry, Beverley, Jacob, and John.
When the 1850 U.S. census was recorded, Mumford was living in Jackson County, Illinois with his children Malinda, Harriet and Allen Gatewood Williams. Polly and Mumford were separated at this time. Polly was living with their son John Wilson and daughter Louisa in a separate household in Jackson County, Illinois.
Siblings for Mumford are somewhat unclear. There are a few I suspect, which are: Terry, Beverley, Coleman, and Rebecca. They were all in Jackson County at the same time as Mumford and his father, Joseph Terry Williams.
