R.B. OLIVER DEAD

R.B. Oliver, an old settler near Esterdy, passed to his eternal reward last Thursday night. His death was sudden and unexpected, although he has been ailing several years.
Funeral services were held in the Esterdy school house Sunday afternoon, Rev. F.G. Clark officiating, and a large number of his old neighbors attended. The remains were buried in the Esterdy cemetery.
Robert Bennett Oliver was born at Three Rivers, Canada, September 16, 1836. He came to this country when a young man and when the Civil War broke out enlisted in the 14th Regulars. He was wounded and discharged. On June 14, 1864, he enlisted in Co. F, 6th Minnesota Infantry, and was honorably discharged May 25, 1865.
On September 2, 1865, he was married to Miss Fidelia Hasbrouck, in Dodge county, and about 12 years later the family settled in Douglas county. They came to Cass county about 13 years ago.
Deceased was a Methodist minister for 30 years, until failing health compelled him to stop.
Mr. Oliver was was the father of ten children, two of them preceding him to the grave. The others are Robert D., Arthur, Mrs. Martha Gleason, of Moorhead, Mrs. Nettie Wellman, Mrs. May Simpson, Mrs. Dollie Green, Herbert and Mildred. All except Mrs. Gleason reside in Cass county, and all were present at the funeral.
The bereaved wife and mourning children have the sympathy of all in this hour of their affliction.
