HATTERAS - Mrs. Elizabeth Willis Austin, 85, of Hatteras died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 1985 at the home of her son, Edward Earl Austin in Virginia Beach, Va. following a long illness.

A native and life long resident of Hatteras she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Mrs. Vandelia Etheridge Willis and the widow of Joshua D. Austin.

She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Hatteras Island Chapter #303; a member of the Hatteras United Methodist Church for 73 years and a member of the choir for 69 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Banks of Norfolk; two sons: Monford Austin of Hatteras and Edward Earl Austin of Virginia Beach; two sisters: Edith Barnett of Grandy and Mrs. Suzannah Fulcher of Elizabeth City; two brothers: Earl Willis of Beaufort and John H. Willis of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 11:00 in the Hatteras United Methodist Church by the Revs. Lewis Dillman, Joseph Moser and Van Cash. Burial will follow in the Peele Family Cemetery in Hatteras. Twiford Island Chapel in Hatteras is in charge of arrangements.
