Arthur R. Johnson Passes
Arthur Roy Johnson, 62, in poor health for a long time, passd away about noon Saturday in the Methodist hospital at Madison, life terminating from pneumonia and complications.
He was a son of Noble Grant and Adelaide (Machamer) Johnson and was born in Stockton township on Nov. 17, 1894.
His marriage to Effie Belk took place on Dec. 28, 1916.
He was wellknown in the Stockton area where he had spent all of his life, retiring some time ago from active farming due to poor health, although he and his wife continued to live on their farm southeast of Stockton.
Besides his wife he leaves three children, Myrnice of Rockford; Mrs. Eugene (Eileen) Yeager and Delbert Johnson both of Stockton. There are three grand children. He also leaves three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Alfred (Lola) Lyons of Lena; Mrs. Arthur (Helen) Ferguson and Harold Johnson, both of Rockford and one half sister, Mrs. J. E. (Mabel) Ross of Stockton.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Hermann Funeral Home. Rev. William Nicoll, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated. William Sheetz and Herbert Hill sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer," and were accompanied by Mrs. Clyde Hermann, Mrs. Leslie Clark, Mrs. Myron Lawfer and Mrs. Cleo Schlafer had charge of the flowers. Interment was in the Morseville cemetery.
Casketbearers were: Wallace Trost, Ellwood Pierce, Carson Dick, Jack Coppernoll, Ross Pierce, and Herbert Wenziker.
