Mabel Ross, newswoman, died Monday

Mabel Leah Ross 83, whose career in the weekly newspaper field spanned 60 years, died at 8:30 pm. Monday at Morgan Memorial Home where she had resided since May of 1964.
A lifelong resident, she was born in Stockton Township December 14, 1888, the daughter of Noble G. and Florence Rosalia (Fitzsimmons) Johnson. She was a graduate of Stockton High School and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She taught Sunday school classes for many years, was a 50-year member of Stockton Chapter 330, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a charter member of Stockton Woman's Club.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Randall Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Ladies Union Cemetery.
