OTWELL, 1788-1862, married circa 1810, Mary ----, thought to have been Mary COOK, some researchers believe she was Mary TEAGUE, 1802-1860, [also 1795-1860) perhaps Jackson / Hall County, Georgia. In 1820, they were living in Captain Elias Miller's District, Hall County, Georgia. In 1830, they resided in Hall County, Georgia. By 1850, they were enumerated as 'AUTWELL' and were residing in District 28 of Benton County, Alabama, and by April 6, 1860, 'James OTWELL' 'born, [1790] North Caorlina' was last enumerated living in Arbacoochee, Township 16, Range 12, Calhoun County, Alabama with his living wife, Mary, and four minor children, of which two, Cristabulis OTWELL, age 13, and Mary Susan OTWELL, age 8, may have been grandchildren.

James was listed as age 70 in the 1860 US Census and his wife was listed as age 65. Masina A., age 34, and Isabelle J., age 21, were living in the family household in this census, along with Cristabulis, age 13, and Mary Susan, age 8. The two young children were probably grandchildren rather than children, due to their young ages, although the relationships are not listed in the 1860 US Census.
