Ersel Hinson Calloway, age 85, of Concord transitioned peacefully to join her family members in Heaven on Saturday, May 14, 2011 while surrounded by loved ones at CMC-NorthEast in Concord.

She was born on November 26, 1925 to the late Elijah Wilson and Carrie Norris Biggers Hinson.

She was also preceded in death by brothers Robert, Worth and Asher Hinson, and sister Janie H. Black.

Ersel retired from Fieldcrest Cannon. A member of Branchview First Church of God, she loved having fellowship with her church family. During her lifetime, she enjoyed activities such as shopping, traveling, and fishing. Ersel was her family's rock, always supportive, and very devoted to her grandchildren.

The family meeting place will be at the home of her daughter Tamara.

A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 12:30 until 2 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM in the chapel, with Rev. Carlton Davidson and Edd Lenzer officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

She is survived by: daughters, Rayma C. Harvey and Tamara C. Kindley both of Concord; grandchildren, Marci K. Jordan and Brent A. Kindley; great-grandchildren, Zoe Kindley, Ryker and Garrick Jordan; sisters, Sarah Clontz and Rachel Thomas; brothers, Ernest Hinson and N.B. Hinson.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society 6000 Fairview Drive Suite 200 Charlotte, NC 28210 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
