Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Born April 24, 1918 in Hughes County, Okla., she was the daughter of Bee and Lillian (Peters) Blaylock. She graduated from Calvin High School, Calvin, Okla. Violet married Archie Benson Smith on Dec. 31, 1937 in Calvin. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2004.
She was a seamstress and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. Smith and wife Linda of Waxahachie, Texas, a daughter, Catherine George of Duncan, two daughters-in-law, Kathryn Smith of Lone Grove, Okla. and Lynn Smith of Mauldin, S.C., a brother, Eugene Blaylock, four sisters, Lela Graham, Norma Foster Copeland, Myrna Simms and Carla Patterson and husband Roy, a sister-in-law, Imogene Blaylock, eight grandchildren: Chuck Smith, Mark Smith, Angela Deck, Buzz Smith, Chris Smith, Lee Ann Ciccotto, Julie Betterton and Stacey Crawford, twelve great grandchildren: Michael Smith, Brandon Deck, Colby Deck, Alex Smith, Christopher Smith, Jarrod Smith, Nicole Smith, Lainie Hull, Trae Smith, Matthew Betterton, Caitlin Betterton and Luke Betterton, one great great grandchild: Rayna Curtis, several cousins, nieces, nephews and two special cats: Patti-Cake and Jett.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Ellis, Delmar, Harmon, Doyle and Claude Blaylock and two sons, Don L. Smith and Dennis R. Smith.
Pallbearers will be: Chuck Smith, Mark Smith, Buzz Smith, Chris Smith, Michael Smith, Matthew Betterton, Brandon Deck.
Honorary bearers are: Angela Deck, Lee Ann Ciccotto, Julie Betterton, Stacey Crawford and her great grandchildren.
