DAVENPORT - Thomas Edward Murphy, 77, of Davenport, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Mr. Murphy was born August 1, 1927, in Centerville, Iowa, to John and Estella (Over) Murphy. He married Helen Winchell on September 9, 1947, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Murphy worked as a sales representative for heavy equipment, and later started TNT Painters. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, who loved life and his family. He enjoyed sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Davenport; daughter, Martha Peterschmidt (Jamie Phillips), of Davenport; son, Thomas Jeffery Murphy (Helen Wulgaert), of Rock Island; grandchildren, Shawn, Jeff, Kristy, Shannon, and Craig; five great-grandchildren; sister, Karen (Les) Bloomer, of Davenport; his twin brother, Robert Murphy, of Bettendorf; and brother, Charlie Murphy, of Davenport. He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Smysor, and brothers, John, Leo, Kenneth, and Terry Murphy.
